As an Essex wedding photographer, there’s something truly special about being invited into the heart of a small, intimate celebration — and Abena and Gos’s legal wedding ceremony at Merrymeade House in Brentwood was the perfect example.
Held on an overcast spring day, the weather may have been classic British grey, but the atmosphere was anything but dull. With just ten of their closest friends and family present, Abena and Gos created a day that was warm, personal, and filled with so much love.
Abena’s incredible fashion sense immediately caught the eye — she wore a chic white blazer and flowing skirt that perfectly captured her elegant yet effortless style. Her bouquet, a simple yet striking arrangement of white calla lilies, was lovingly made by her close friend, Assumpta at By Ave Creations. (It was Assumpta who also kindly recommended me to Abena and Gos — and I’m so grateful she did!)
After their heartfelt ceremony at Merrymeade, the couple returned home with their guests to celebrate in the most relaxed, joyful way: pizza and champagne shared around the table, laughter flowing freely, and memories being made. It was clear that the day wasn’t just about the marriage certificate — it was about being surrounded by the people who mean the most.
Photographing Abena and Gos was an absolute dream. They are fun, warm, and welcoming, the kind of couple who make you feel instantly part of the family. They wanted their wedding photos to truly reflect their personalities — relaxed, stylish, joyful, and full of life — and capturing that authentic energy was a genuine pleasure.
What stood out the most throughout the day was the incredible bond Abena and Gos share not just with each other, but also with their family and close friends. Every hug, every glance, every laugh spoke volumes about the beautiful community they have around them.
This day was intentionally very different from the big destination wedding they celebrated abroad last year — quieter, smaller, but equally meaningful. And sometimes, it’s in these quieter moments that you really feel the magic.
If you’re planning a small wedding, elopement, or legal ceremony and are looking for an Essex wedding photographerto capture it all naturally and beautifully, I’d love to hear from you.

Last week, I had the absolute pleasure of stepping behind the camera lens at the stunning Beaverbrook Hotel in Surrey, but not in the way you might expect. Instead of capturing a couple’s special day, I was there to document the incredible artistry of Bluesky Flowers as they transformed this already breathtaking venue into something […]

There’s something truly magical about stepping into a venue that balances historical grandeur with contemporary elegance perfectly. During my recent visit to Casterton Grange in May, I was reminded once again why this exceptional venue holds such a special place in my heart (and no, it isn’t because they have baby doll sheep and horses, […]

As a fine art wedding photographer, I was thrilled to capture every precious moment of their countryside celebration. A Perfect Setting for Fine […]
As a London wedding photographer, I’m constantly inspired by the unique love stories that unfold in this incredible city. Sara & Cillian’s late April wedding was a perfect blend of elegance, intimacy, and pure joy – exactly the kind of celebration that reminds me why I fell in love with wedding photography in the first […]
