There are certain venues that make you catch your breath the moment you arrive — and Fulham Palace is absolutely one of them. Tucked beside the River Thames in West London, this extraordinary Grade I listed building carries over 1,300 years of history within its Tudor courtyards and light-filled Georgian rooms. When Catherine and Will chose it for their wedding day, I knew we were in for something truly special.
As a wedding photographer, I’ve long admired this venue from afar. Shooting here for the first time, I understood immediately why couples fall so completely in love with it. The wisteria (being a flower fanatic) did also help this time of year!
A Venue Like No Other
Fulham Palace isn’t just a beautiful backdrop, it’s a place with genuine soul. What strikes you first is the extraordinary architectural variety: the warmth of the Tudor Great Hall with its dark wood panelling and statement fireplace sits alongside the soaring elegance of the Georgian rooms, which flood with natural light through tall windows overlooking the lawns. Outside, 13 acres of manicured grounds — formal knot gardens, ancient tree-lined pathways, and a Victorian glasshouse — give a countryside-in-the-city feeling that feels genuinely rare in London.
For couples who want grandeur without stuffiness, history without heaviness, Fulham Palace wedding photography offers some of the most naturally beautiful images imaginable. The light here is extraordinary, the textures rich, and every corner tells a story.
Catherine & Will’s Day
Catherine and Will are exactly the kind of couple I love to work with — warm, relaxed, and completely present with each other and their guests throughout the day. From the quiet, tender moments getting ready, to the ceremony, through to the dancing and joy of the evening, they brought an ease to everything that made photographing them an absolute pleasure.
The ceremony itself was filled with laughter and genuine emotion — the kind that needs no choreography, just two people who are simply happy to be marrying each other. During portraits, we made the most of the palace’s iconic Tudor courtyard and the sweeping lawns, as the late afternoon light turned everything golden.
The reception spilled through the elegant interiors and out onto the terrace, guests animated and celebratory, the kind of atmosphere that photographs itself.
On Fulham Palace Wedding Photography
One of the things I love most about Fulham Palace as a wedding venue is how generously it gives to photography. Whether you’re drawn to the drama of the Great Hall, the romance of the walled garden, or the sweeping lawns at golden hour, the venue offers so many distinct settings within a relatively contained space — which means a relaxed, unrushed portrait experience for couples.
The mix of interior and exterior options also means that whatever the British weather decides to do (and as any London wedding photographer will tell you, you plan for all eventualities), there is always somewhere beautiful to work.
