There’s something undeniably magical about wandering through a city that’s dressed in flowers. Yesterday was one of those perfect days—the kind that feels like it was plucked straight from a fairytale. I spent the day exploring Chelsea and Belgravia for Chelsea and Belgravia in Bloom 2024, and it honestly felt like stepping into another world. This has become something of a yearly ritual for me, and every time, I’m reminded why I adore it so much. There’s just something about being surrounded by blooms in every shade imaginable, in one of the most beautiful corners of London, that feels so romantic and dreamlike.
The weather couldn’t have been more perfect—gentle sunshine, a soft breeze, and the scent of flowers floating in the air. The streets were alive with colour and creativity, each installation more breathtaking than the last. I wandered slowly, letting the day unfold at its own pace, weaving through charming cobbled streets and elegant townhouses draped in floral displays. It was as if every window, every doorway, every little nook had been touched by a bit of magic.
Of course, I had my camera with me and couldn’t resist photographing as many installations as I could. Each one felt like a piece of living art, and I wanted to capture the beauty in all its fleeting glory—the way the light caught the petals, the contrast of vibrant colours against old stone buildings, the delicate details that someone had clearly poured their heart into. I love looking back at those photos, knowing they hold memories of this enchanting day.
By the end of it all, I had taken over 13,000 steps, though it never felt tiring—more like a graceful meander than a walk. Time seemed to slow, and I found myself completely immersed in the beauty surrounding me. There’s something about this yearly tradition that fills me with joy and inspiration, a gentle reminder to pause, to breathe, and to appreciate the romance woven into the everyday.
As the sun began to set, casting a golden glow over the floral-lined streets, I felt so grateful—for the beauty, for the quiet moments, and for the magic of a city that blooms not just with flowers, but with wonder.
In an era where digital photography is the prime focus, the resurgence of analogue photography in weddings and events is a real breath of fresh air. Film photography captures moments in a way that is timeless, artistic, and deeply nostalgic. It’s no wonder that more people are seeking out photographers who offer film. But I […]
It was a cold and frosty morning as I hoiked my heavy and somewhat overpacked camera bag into my car boot. With my coffee flask and habitual daily Pain au Chocolat in hand I huddled into the car with butterflies in my stomach. It was a somewhat momentous occasion – the camera was coming out […]
Engagement Sessions: Why They Matter and How to Prep By Camilla Joy Photography | London Wedding Photographer As a London wedding photographer, I’m often asked whether engagement sessions are really necessary. You may have heard that you’re best to go with a photographer who’s worked at your wedding venue before. Of course, whilst that is a real positive, I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s a must. If that were the case, no wedding photographer would ever work somewhere new would they? And quite honestly, it would probably […]
